ROSEDOWN PLANTATION STATE HISTORIC SITE

The popular, two-week program series, History Mythbusters, returns to Rosedown Plantation State Historic Site on Monday, July 10, and continues through Sunday, July 23.  Daily, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., site staff will explore commonly-believed myths by relating how and why they were created, and presenting the factual information behind each myth.

Throughout history, many misunderstood things about the past have had stories created to explain their purpose. With research, many of these stories have been found to be myths, yet are still related today at historic sites throughout the country. Visitors to Rosedown Plantation State Historic Site are invited to explore antebellum history and some of the myths that have come down through the past and continue today.

Rosedown Plantation State Historic Site is located on La. Hwy. 10 in St. Francisville, 30 minutes north of Baton Rouge, off US Hwy. 61.  The site is open daily from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., except Thanksgiving, Christmas and New Year’s Day.  Guided tours of the main house are provided on the hour, beginning at 10 a.m. with the final tour of the day at 4 p.m.  Admission prices are $10 for adults (ages 18-61), $8 for seniors (ages 62 and over) and $4 for students (ages 6-17).  Children 5 and under are admitted free.  Garden only is $5 (ages 18 and over).
