“HAVE AN AUDUBON ADVENTURE”

EXPLORE: The Tunica Wildlife Management Area of over 3000 acres offers an extraordinary refuge for outdoorsy folks who love hiking, sightseeing, bird watching, wildlife viewing, and camping.

SEARCH: Have a ghost adventure at the Myrtles, known as the most haunted house in America. Who knows you may see Buffalo grazing in the yard, or hand prints in the mirror, or even a shadowy figure looking through a window.

SEE: Audubon State Historic Site where John James Audubon sketched and painted 32 birds for his famous “Birds of America Portfolio”. Learn about America’s most famous naturalist and birdwatch and hike the wooded trails nearby. PS: Be sure to bring a picnic lunch.

EAT: From the best bar-b-que, to chicken and dumplings, to filet mignon, you can find it at our restaurants and cafes. Many of them provide weekly music performances and plenty of small town atmosphere.

DISCOVER: The Angola Prison Museum where interesting exhibits explain the history of America’s largest prison and how it evolved into a model prison. In the months of October and April the prison hosts its famous Angola Rodeo and Crafts Sale.

SHOP: Visit the Town of St. Francisville where you can eat at numerous restaurants, shop at quant boutiques, antique shops, and tour the historic district. Be sure to take a selfie at the Mississippi River landing.

PLAY: Nestled among the hardwoods and lush landscape lies Louisiana's hidden treasure, The Bluffs Golf and Sports Resort. This Arnold Palmer designed course is considered one of the best in Louisiana.

FOR THE KIDS: Take a guided tour of Port Hudson State Historic Site, where you’ll view artillery displays and ridges positioned above Sandy and Foster creeks. Numerous overlooks and trails are found throughout the park, and the museum will give you an overview of what was at stake in the Siege of Port Hudson.

OTHER THINGS TO SEE: Afton Villa Gardens, Rosedown Gardens and House, West Feliciana Historical Society Museum, Historic Churches and Graveyards, and Cat Island National Wildlife Refuge.
